Diagnostic Radiologist Training Degrees
Can you imagine how hard it would be to diagnose a malignant tumor, or a fractured wrist without the ability to look inside the body through x-rays and radiation? If you’ve ever been the victim of a broken limb, or a hairline fracture, you already know that the medical professionals responsible for using x-ray machines and radiation technology to investigate internal medical issues are known as diagnostic radiologists, and they are an integral part of the comprehensive medical team. Because they are so important to proper diagnosis of medical and skeletal conditions, diagnostic radiologists are required to complete a four year undergraduate degree in a medical science, four years of training at an accredited medical school, and then five years of post-graduate training, before they can apply for jobs in the industry. In most cases, students that make it through this educational training and the subsequent residency program are able to find jobs at public hospitals, research universities, and private radiology practices. In terms of the health care industry, the occupation of diagnostic radiologist has become one of the most competitive fields to enter, and those that are able to find jobs in this sector are likely to be in high demand for many years to come. The average salary for a well trained diagnostic radiologist typically falls around $175,000 a year, depending on specialty and experience.
