Health Services Administration Degrees
As you probably already know, the health care system is inextricably bound up in the health insurance system in this country. It is almost impossible to find affordable health care if you’re not working with a well known insurance provider, and even when you have insurance, getting them to cover your medical bills in a timely fashion can still be difficult. Doctors and nurses don’t have time to be thinking about anything other than the proper diagnosis and care of their patients, so it is up to the health services administrator and their supporting staff to make sure that payments are requested and received on time, so that the hospital or clinic can continue to function properly. Depending on the size of the facility, there might be several health administrators working together with assistants. In most cases, managerial positions require that you have a master’s degree in health services administration before you can be eligible. However, sometimes entry level positions in smaller facilities can be secured with lesser degrees. These days the health care industry is in a period of both growth and change, as electronic record keeping methods must be implemented, and health insurance systems utilized correctly. Health services administrators are essential to both of these tasks, and they are in high demand right now. The average salary for a well trained administrator is around $87,040.
