Pharmacy techs usually complete a training program offered by a junior college or technical university, and in most cases, these programs can last anywhere from six months to two years. Thanks to the increased demand for pharmaceutical drugs from the expanding elderly population, there are many job opportunities for well trained pharmacy techs. The average salary for a qualified pharmacy tech is around $15.88 an hour.
