  • Health Care Management

    Description: The Health Care Management program provides medical students with an overview of accounting, marketing, finance, law and management to prepare them for managerial positions within the health care industry. Students will develop knowledge and skills in research, critical thinking, problem solving and current technology for application and use in a health care setting. Students will foster teamwork and leadership skills through participation in classroom activities. Professional ethics, and its application within the health care business environment, is also targeted.The program has been developed as a completion program for students who have graduated from an accredited associate degree program in Medical Assistant, Medical Billing, Medical Coding Technology, Therapeutic and Clinical Massage, or a related area, or who have earned college credit equivalent to such a degree. Additional coursework may be required in order to meet the prerequisite requirements of the courses included in the Health Care Management Bachelor's Degree program.

  • Medical Assistant

    Description: Medical Assistants possess the skills necessary to be proficient in both front and back office procedures. The Medical Assistant may assist the physician in minor surgery, perform laboratory tests, assess vital signs, administer medication, operate an EKG machine and perform other therapeutic modalities prescribed by the physician. Medical Assistants are employed in physicians offices, medical clinics, hospitals, laboratories, and other health agencies.

  • Medical Laboratory Technology

    Description: This program is designed to provide a progressive curriculum of general education, basic science, math, clinical and technical training. The goal of the Medical Laboratory Technology program is to provide the student with the academic, professional and clinical skills needed for entry level positions as a Medical Laboratory Technician. The program objectives include the student being able to utilize critical and analytical thinking skills to apply principles and regulations for quality assurance, accuracy, and validity of laboratory tests. In preparation to enter the Medical Laboratory Technician career, the student will be able to competently and safely perform procedures in collection, processing and analyzing biological specimens, and in the multiple aspects of routine clinical laboratory tests, such as hematology, clinical chemistry, immunohematology, microbiology, serology, immunology, coagulation, and other emerging diagnostic tests. The student will also be able to apply professional standards and ethics in the performance of evaluation, quality assessment and management of laboratory results and in the communication of patient information as part of the healthcare team.

    Description: This program trains students to perform medical administrative front office duties that are vital in today's healthcare field. It develops fundamental skills such as phone reception, word processing, medical record filing, appointment scheduling, light bookkeeping, and proficiency in medical practice software functions. Employment opportunities include all physicians' offices, clinics, med-checks, and virtually any healthcare setting.

  • Medical Reimbursement Technology

    Description: This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to apply coding classification systems for billing medical professional services to insurance companies, maintaining patient accounts, and performing billing procedures for optimal claim reimbursement. The student will be trained to utilize medical office software programs to input patient insurance and registration data, manage health information files, schedule appointments, and submit electronic claims forms. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of compliance with state and federal regulations and managed care policies. A high degree of accuracy and a working knowledge of medical terminology, diseases, and treatments are important skills for this profession. Employment opportunities include physician's offices, clinics, inpatient care facilities, medical billing management companies, and insurance companies.

  • Occupational Medical Spanish

    Description: This program is designed to train employees in the Medical field, who are native English speakers, to communicate effectively with patients whose primary language is Spanish. The program includes reading comprehension and written communication with an emphasis on oral communication skills. The focus of the training will empower the student to assist Spanish-speaking patients to correctly complete medical forms and to receive appropriate medical care. Upon completion of this program, students will have a working knowledge base of the Spanish language in a health care setting.
