At Kaplan College, we create programs with our students’ needs in mind. Our goal is to empower you with the real-world knowledge you need to succeed beyond the classroom. We offer a variety of programs at 40 campuses across 10 states in various degree levels to help train you for entry-level employment in a variety of rewarding careers.
Areas of Study may vary by location. Additional academy training may be required for law enforcement positions. Certain positions may require additional training, licensing, or certification. Applicants to the Criminal Justice program in the state of Texas will require additional training approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) upon graduation in order to seek the following positions: police officer, peace officer, sheriff deputy, bailiff, and jailer. Paralegals are not lawyers and cannot practice law or give legal advice.

Associate of Applied Science: Dental Assisting
Description: Kaplan College is proud to offer a dental assisting program that is designed to give you real-world knowledge. We are market-driven, offering our specific curriculum because it serves local employment needs. The duties involved in dental assisting are diverse and are all designed to support the dentist. Thus, at Kaplan College, Indianapolis campus, you can have the opportunity to learn to perform a broad range of daily activities in your dental assisting classes, including caring for patients in the treatment room, taking dental x-rays, taking impressions of patients' teeth, teaching preventive dentistry to patients, assisting with oral surgery, and performing oral evacuation. In addition, you can receive training in word processing and accounting functions, as well as insurance claim filing, office emergency responses, and patient scheduling.

Associate of Applied Science: Health Information Management
Description: The Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Management combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in medical coding: a skill that could help you find a career, as patient records are being increasingly scrutinized by health insurance companies, regulators, courts, and consumers. Prior to graduation, you will be required to complete an externship to gain on-the-job experience in a real-world work environment. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science and can pursue entry-level health information positions in clinics, labs, hospitals, private offices, and other health care facilities. Externship sites may themselves require a criminal background check or medical examination.

Associate of Applied Science: Medical Assistant
Description: The objective of our medical assistant program is to provide the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for entry-level positions as a medical assistant. The curriculum includes computer technology and word processing to make you more marketable to employers. Prior to graduation, you will be required to complete an externship program at a local clinic, physician's office, hospital, health maintenance organization (HMO), or other allied health facility where you may also find job opportunities. This program offers a curriculum that can train you in the basic fundamentals to help you find entry-level employment in this growing field. Graduates of the program may seek positions in urgent care centers, outpatient surgical centers, and physicians' offices.

Associate of Applied Science: Medical Office Administration
Description: The Medical Office Administration program is to prepare you for employment in medical offices by providing you with the technical and management skills required by employers. You have the opportunity to learn administrative and support functions to be proficient in medical environments. In addition to learning about the medical office, the curriculum can help prepare you to obtain four Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications at the expert level and Medical Coding and Insurance Billing certification. This program is designed to lead to entry-level employment in the field or to other jobs in clinics, insurance companies, laboratories, hospitals, and private offices.

The Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork program includes the same coursework as the Clinical Massage Therapy Certificate program plus advanced holistic, clinical, and technical skills. This program offers you the training required by health care and personal service employers. Associate of Science: Nursing
Description: Our nursing curriculum could provide you with the professional knowledge and training to meet client health care needs in a variety of settings. Certificate: Back Office Medical Assistant
Description: Back office medical assistants perform a variety of back office duties and may also assume supervisory responsibilities. Our back office medical assistant program is geared to help you gain the skill set needed to perform various back office duties, as well as responsibilities such as preparing patients, examination rooms, and equipment for exams; interviewing patients; charting; performing asepsis techniques; and administering injections. By earning a certificate from our back office medical assistant program, you can seek entry-level positions including back office assistant manager, blood /plasma lab aide, hospital donor unit assistant, medical assistant, bone density technician, phlebotomist, and imaging assistant.
