Medical Technician Programs at Medical Technology Institute

  • Advanced Medical Aesthetics

    Description: This unique program is designed to integrate conventional aesthetics with medical knowledge. This program prepares students who are licensed or certified in the health care field to train in advanced skin care skills and techniques. A Medical Aesthetician has the training to work in a clinical setting and be a part of the medical team while bringing skin care knowledge to the medical practice. The Advanced Medical Aesthetician is capable of accurately evaluating and assessing the client/patient skin condition on a medical basis and can then offer a sound skin care and management plan. The Advanced Medical Aesthetician Program is a fast paced and highly concentrated program. Students who successfully complete the program receive a certificate of graduation.

  • Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist

    Description: The Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist Program is designed to prepare students to become entry-level skilled diagnostic medical sonographers, equip them with knowledge of the basic principles and scanning techniques of Diagnostic Ultrasound. This 24 month program provides the student with preparation for entry-level responsibilities as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. The curriculum addresses introductory topics in physics and instrumentations related to abdominal, small parts, OB/GYN, gray scale and color-flow Doppler sonography. Both day and evening programs include 950 didactic and 900 practical hours. The Diagnostic Ultrasound Core Curriculum includes five modules of courses that feature an on-campus lecture component, an on-campus imaging lab component and an off-campus integrated clinical component. The externship curriculum is structured to include four terms of courses providing full time experience in the clinical environment that includes competencies, logs and evaluations. Externship hours are typically scheduled during daytime hours. Prior to assignment for integrated externship students must provide documentation of a complete physical examination, current levels of immunization through titer testing, TB testing, and a record of hepatitis-B-series immunization. A valid CPR card, student level liability insurance and a criminal background check are also required. The cost of these medical and legal requirements is the responsibility of the individual student.

  • Massage Therapy

    Description: The Massage Therapy program is designed to prepare the student with a strong foundation on which to build a successful career as a competent entry-level massage therapist. A well-rounded curriculum offers the student knowledge of the structure and function of the human body blended with hands-on techniques used in therapeutic massage and a variety of specialized modalities.

  • Medical Assistant

    Description: The Medical Assistant program is designed to prepare students to perform administrative duties and basic clinical duties in an office or medical center. Medical assistants are multifaceted members of the medical office team who work closely with doctors, registered nurses and other office personnel delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities in health care facilities. During the program students obtain basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, medical law and ethics, medical billing, EKG, hematology, management skills, communication skills, basic lab procedures and patient preparation. The program includes 540 didactic hours and 200 hours clinical externship experienced in a doctor's office or medical center setting. Clinical externship is scheduled with a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 40 hours per week during the day shift until completion of the required 200 hours. Students receive a graduation certificate upon successful completion of all didactic and clinical assignments. Medical Assistants are energetic and enthusiastic individuals who work efficiently with compassion and attention to detail.

  • Medical Billing

    Description: The Medical Office Billing Specialist program is designed to prepare students to become entry-level skilled office professionals. Medical Office Billing Specialists obtain instruction in medical office billing, health insurance claim forms, documentation and filing reports as well as general medical office procedures. Medical Office Billing Specialists spend 200 didactic hours and 40 hours at a clinical site. Their clinical externship rotation is generally accomplished during dayshift hours and is approximately 1 week in length. Students who successfully complete all didactic and clinical assignments receive a graduation certificate. Medical Office Billing Specialists are competent, fully trained professionals. They have the general medical knowledge necessary to comprehend the needs of the typical medical office as well as the specialized training to handle billing, insurance coding and the handling of patient reports as required.

    Description: The Medical Office Specialist program is designed to prepare students to become entry-level skilled office professionals. Medical Office Specialists obtain instruction in medical office management, financial management, medical office billing, health insurance claim forms, documentation and filing reports. Medical Office Specialists spend 200 didactic hours and 40 hours at a clinical site. Their clinical externship rotation is generally accomplished during dayshift hours and is approximately 1 week in length. Students who successfully complete all didactic and clinical assignments receive a graduation certificate. Medical Office Specialists are competent, management trained professionals. They have the knowledge necessary to work with and often eventually lead a dynamic medical office team.

  • Surgical Technologist

    Description: The Surgical Technologist Program is designed for persons interested in the surgical arena of healthcare. Upon completion of the program, graduates may gain employment as Surgical Technologists who handle the instruments, surgical supplies and equipment during all types of surgical procedures. A graduation certificate is given verifying satisfactory completion of all academic and externship assignments. Upon completition, graduates may gain employment as entry-level surgical technologists. Surgical Technologists spend 700 didactic hours and 500 hours on their clinical externship. Prior to entering the surgical externship phase of their training students must provide documentation of a complete physical examination, current levels of immunization through titer testing, TB testing and a record of hepatitis-B-series immunization. A valid CPR card, student level liability insurance and a criminal background check are also required. The cost of these medical and legal requirements is the responsibility of the individual student.
