At Thompson Institute, we strive to provide a quality education in allied health, criminal justice, information technology, and trades. Our campus, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, offers programs that combine general education, professional skills, and career-focused education to help you to develop and achieve your personal and career goals.

Areas of Study may vary by location. Additional academy training may be required for law enforcement positions. Certain positions may require additional training, licensing, or certification. Applicants to the Criminal Justice program in the state of Texas will require additional training approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) upon graduation in order to seek the following positions: police officer, peace officer, sheriff deputy, bailiff, and jailer. Paralegals are not lawyers and cannot practice law or give legal advice.

Medical Technician Programs at Thompson Institute

  • Diploma: Dental Assistant

    Description: The objective of the Dental Assistant program is to prepare students with the knowledge, the technical skills and the work habits required for entry-level positions in the dental field. This program includes instruction in both the clinical (chairside) and administrative aspects of dental assisting. Graduates may become Registered Dental Assistants by passing the Registered Dental Assistant Examination. Students are eligible to sit for the State Board of Radiology Exam. Although the program is designed to prepare students to take various certification or license exams, the School cannot guarantee the student will pass those exams. In some cases, field experience may be necessary to be eligible to take or to successfully pass the exams.

  • Diploma: Medical Assistant

    Description: This program will help prepare you for an entry-level position as a medical assistant in private practices, hospitals, and clinics. You will develop the skills in performing laboratory, clinical, and medical office procedures. Our program helps you acquire knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required to start a career in medical services. A 240-hour supervised, non-paid externship in a physician's office or clinic will complete your course of study and complement your classroom learning with hands-on training. Graduates are eligible to take the CAAHEP Examination to become a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).

  • Diploma: Medical Office Assistant

    Description: Our medical office programs offer in-depth training to help prepare you for work in a doctor's office, hospital or insurance agency. With a focus on skills like scheduling appointments, transcribing medical information, filing patient records and handling insurance forms, we could help you on your way to an entry-level position in a medical office.
